Employee health and safety

Ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, subcontractors, third parties, and visitors is of utmost importance to Cement Australia. Although we have improved our health and safety performance in recent years, there is still a long way to go to achieve best practice.
Significant hazards exist in areas of cement plant operations that need a proactive approach with management, employees and contractors working together to control and prevent harm. Cement Australia not only complies with all relevant national and state safety legislation but has set a target of engendering a culture of “safety first” through the following initiatives:
- implementation of an integrated safety, health, environment and quality (SHEC) management program
- system certification to ISO international quality standards at key plants
- on-site dedicated health and safety management
- measurement of SHEC performance
This integrated management system has already demonstrated benefits in improved morale, increased employee involvement, and substantial reductions in injuries leading to overall improved safety performance.
Further to the intergrated management system, Safety leadership and Safe work behaviours are recognised as equally important in ensuring sustainable improved safety performance. Click on the link for more information - Are we there yet?
