DIY products
Cement Australia manufactures a wide range of cement and pre-mixed products for use in the building industry as well as for DIY activities around the home.
What is Cement?
Cement is a powdery substance which reacts with water to form a cement paste. This paste forms a binding agent which when mixed with other materials such as coarse aggregates (gravel or screenings) and fine aggregates (sand) makes concrete.
A cement and sand is called mortar and is used for bedding (roofing, tiles, bricks and rockwork) or rendering.
Types of Cement
Depending on what you're building, Cement Australia have the complete range of cement building products for your needs including:
· General Purpose Cement
· Builders Cement
· Off White Cement
· White Cement
· Hydrated Lime
GP (General Purpose) Cement
General Purpose Portland Cement is the standard grey cement used in most forms of construction and should be used where there are no special requirements.
Blended Cement
Blended cements are a blend of GP Portland cement and either Fly Ash or Iron blast-furnace slag. Generally blended cements set and cure at a slower rate than GP cement. This can be an advantage in hot weather. GP cement can be used in most normal construction practices.
Off-White Cement
Off White Cement is specially manufactured light coloured GP Portland cement. Off-White Cement is used in applications where light colour is required and mixed with light coloured aggregates to give a light or pastel colour. Due to the fine grind of Off-White Cement a quicker curing time can be achieved.
White Cement
White Cement is an imported Portland cement used where the lightest possible colour is required.
Hydrated Lime
Manufactured to enhance bond strength and workability in cement mortars, hydrated lime can be used extensively for soil stabilisation, gardening, water treatment, tree spraying, white washing and sanitization.
Gap Sand
Gap sand is a specialist paving sand that contains special additives that enhance ‘holding’ of joint sands when both dry and wet.
