Australian Steel Mill Services (ASMS) is the Group’s 50/50 joint venture operation supplying services to BHP Steel at Port Kembla in NSW. ASMS is responsible for the processing of blast-furnace slag, a by-product of iron and steel-making; the marketing of slag products to the cement and construction industries; and the undertaking of general civil engineering services and equipment on site.
In Australia, granulated blast furnace slag is used as a cementitious material and air-cooled blast furnace slag is used as an aggregate.
