Creating a letterbox
To start all you will need are some bricks, reinforcing mesh and of course Cement Australia’s Concrete Mix and Mortar Mix, stone for capping, 2 small sheets of cement sheet, a short length of PVC pipe for the newspaper holder and letter box front and back. In terms of tools you’ll need a spirit level, shovel and trowel.
Step 1 Planning and preparing
Dig a foundation area. Place a layer of reinforcing mesh. Mix and pour concrete until required height. Leave to cure for at least 7 days.
Step 2 Building your project
Lay the bricks or blocks out ready to use and follow the instructions on getting started covered earlier. Place cement sheet to cover the hollow centre area at desired height, (floor for letters). Place the letterbox front, backs and PVC pipe for the newspaper holder in position and complete bricklaying. Cap your letterbox off with a concrete slab or for added flair slate or stone (you may need another layer as cement sheet to support your stone depending on its size). You can also render your new letter box with Cement Australia’s Render It.
